Ugly $4M House in Hancock Park??

Sometimes I view a property and I leave a little angry. This Hancock Park home is close to $4m and i just didn’t get it. The bones are great and I am a huge fan of the drought-tolerant front yard. I wish the owners put some effort and money into fluffing up the house before it went on the market. #1, the floors are a mess. #2 the updates don’t work with this style of the original home. Below is the description from the MLS with my comments added

Classic Windsor Square Mediterranean in Hancock Park on a rare double lot (this is great, but I didn’t  realize it when I was there). This elegantly detailed & updated (NOT IN THE LAST 10+ YEARS!) 4 bed 3.5 bath home offers grand scale living & dining rooms; fabulous center island kitchen-great room (WITH AN OLD BATHROOM FLOOR) plus a huge family/media room. Outside offers a resort quality salt water pool & spa surrounded by lush vegetation, outdoor kitchen and a secret sunken garden. Gated; detached garage w/ guest apt. Close to Larchmont Village (AND A VERY BUSY 3RD STREET!)
Fireplaces proabably DON’T WORK in this $4m home; sellers are unsure about square footage. Guest apartment @ 434 sf.

I am going to keep an eye on this and see what it actually ends up selling for…maybe someone will respond to the scratched up hardwoods? It is a bummer that at this price, the house still needs work.

Listed by J. Foreman and Sotheby’s and 2 other agents. Not sure why they need so many agents??

I wasn’t too excited about the choice of tile in this kitchen:
