My Favorite October Events Part I
Here are my picks for the top events in LA for the first two weeks of October:
LA Chocolate Salon
With over 10,000 visitors over the past 11 years, the annual LA Chocolate Salon invites you to taste artisan and gourmet chocolates while enjoying demonstrations, chef and author talks, and wine tasting at the Pasadena Convention Center. New for 2017, the LA Chocolate Salon will even be incorporating an Augmented Reality experience, and there will also be a chocolate-themed swimwear trunk show, presented by Drip Swimwear. http://www.lachocolatesalon.com/

First Fridays on Abbot Kinney
Come take part in this festive celebration of urban beach lifestyle at First Fridays on Abbot Kinney! This popular monthly event takes place in the heart of Venice, and features numerous food trucks, open galleries and extended shop hours. You will also find special deals and great happy hours at the many shops and restaurants along Abbot Kinney Blvd. Remember to show up early in order to find parking! (There are a few parking valets on Abbot Kinney, though you can get stuck in traffic on Abbot Kinney (best to avoid it). Valet Parking on Electric at Milwood (behind Abbot Kinney to the east at the Electric Lodge). There are 2 hour metered lots directly behind Abbot Kinney – Electric is the street behind it.
When: Friday October 7th, 5:00-11:00pm some venues open later

Oktoberfest at Alpine Village
The oldest Oktoberfest celebration in Southern California, Oktoberfest at Alpine Village in Torrance offers up plenty of German beer brewed by Warsteiner, traditional food, and fun music led by real 12-piece Oom Pah party bands imported from Germany. Eagle Rock Music Festival
The annual Eagle Rock Music Festival is a community-oriented street festival showcasing a variety of innovative local and multicultural music on seven stages near Colorado Boulevard & Eagle Rock Boulevard. The festival also prides itself on having incredible food options provided by local restaurants and food trucks as you dance the night away. Visit https://eaglerockmusicfestival.org for more info.

Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair
The Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair has been celebrating the South Bay community for 45 years. The fair traditionally opens with a parade at 10am on Saturday morning to kick off a weekend of fun featuring 3 stages where over 30 local groups perform, a beer and wine garden, more than 100 food and game booths run by non-profit organizations to raise money, blocks of arts and craft exhibitors, and Kid Country- a whole area dedicated to kids with pony rides and a petting zoo, as well as many other fun and FREE attractions. No dogs, No bikes, No skateboards, No scooters, No roller skates or blades are allowed anytime on the fairgrounds. http://www.mbfair.org/
