LA’s Awesome Haunted Attractions

We have already covered how Southern California is home to some of the best amusement parks in the world. However, every fall, it also becomes home to some of the best Haunted Attractions in the world!

Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor
What better place for a haunted attraction than, well… an ACTUAL haunted attraction. The Queen Mary is known as one of the most haunted locations in the world, and each year, thrill-seekers are invited aboard to experience the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor. This event sees the long, narrow corridors and steep staircases filled with ghostly creatures daring you to venture deeper into the ship’s bowels. Come experience 7 haunted mazes, a 4D theater experience, hundreds of monsters, immersive attractions, live shows, and more. New for 2017- a 4th maze on the ship, an "ice-bar," and plenty of scary new monsters. http://www.queenmary.com/events/dark-harbor

The Haunted Hayride
Perhaps the most iconic haunt for Los Angeles locals, the Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park is no kiddy-wagon. Yes, it is an actual hayride, only this one takes you through the haunted ruins of the Old Griffith Park Zoo filled with ghosts, demons, and beasts straight out of your worst nightmares. In addition to the hayride, there are various mazes, scare zones, a Scary-Go-Round, a haunted village, and much more! This year’s theme- "Clown…" More info. at http://losangeleshauntedhayride.com

Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights
Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights consistently ranks among the top Halloween attractions in the country. When you combine the creative design and special effects from the minds behind your favorite Hollywood blockbusters with the thrills of an amusement park, you are bound to have a terrifyingly good time! This year’s event features eight terrifying mazes, scare zones, and the infamous ‘Terror Tram’ with themes like The Walking Dead, The Purge, Insidious, The Shining, American Horror Story, and Saw that are sure to darken your night. Six Flags Fright Fest
The high-octane rides and roller coasters of Six Flags Magic Mountain are thrilling enough without zombies and ghouls lurking in the shadows. However, each Halloween, the amusement park is transformed into a haunting Fright Fest, where you can come face to face with your worst fears. Six Flags is going all out this year with thrill rides, attractions, shows, numerous scare zones, and giant mazes. Get your passes here.

Knotts Scary Farm
Knott’s Scary Farm was the first haunted amusement park in the country, and as such, it has a reputation to uphold. It is one of the country’s largest theme park Halloween events featuring more than 1,000 free –roaming monsters, 9 mazes, four "scare zones" and three live shows. The organizers blend horror classics like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, with original scares. Perhaps you are familiar with "sliders"—ghouls, who at first appear to be at a distance, suddenly lunge towards you with lightning speed (thanks to slick metal knee-pads) to meet you eye-to-eyesocket? Yeah, those were invented here. See the website for passes.
